In preparation for the upcoming launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn on Windows PC and PlayStation 3, we are looking for enthusiastic players to take part in the beta test. The purpose of the beta test is to help us evaluate gameplay systems, in-game content, battle system adjustments, and balancing. Players will also be asked to stress test the new player and item search functions, as well as report any bugs found in the game. The beta test will be divided into four phases, and the PlayStation 3 version will be available to test starting with phase 3.
Your comments, suggestions, and bug reports during the testing phases will be carefully reviewed by the development and operations teams. With your cooperation, we will strive to make FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn into the best game that it can be.

Objectives of the Beta Test

The purpose of the beta test is to examine the game systems, address the balance, and prioritize bug fixes. Please note that the servers, core systems, game client, the user interface, battle system, and the maps are all being completely revamped and are still under development, so bugs may be encountered.
We request that those wishing to apply for the role of beta tester carefully read the following and apply only after agreeing to all the terms contained in the application agreement.
If you applied to be a PlayStation 3 beta tester for FFXIV Version 1.0 and were selected to test the Windows version instead, you need not apply again to test the PS3 version—your original application will be reconsidered when we start selecting PS3 testers. However, if you wish to be considered as a Windows PC tester we ask that you apply specifically for that. We also ask that beta testers from the previous version of FFXIV apply once again if exempt from the categories mentioned above.

Legacy Campaign Members

Players who met the Legacy campaign requirements can participate in the beta test starting from phase 1 and are not required to apply. However, we ask players who wish to participate in the PlayStation 3 beta test to apply for it.

Players who wish to participate in the PlayStation 3 beta test and who have a SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS code that came bundled with the initial shipments of FINAL FANTASY XIII (PS3), please enter this code in the designated area at the end of the survey. You will be given priority when the time comes to select PlayStation 3 beta testers.

Users Who Applied for the Alpha Test

Users who applied for the alpha test are not required to reapply for the beta test. However, participation in the alpha test does not guarantee selection for the beta test. Please note that you must submit a new application if you wish to apply for testing the PlayStation 3 version.

PlayStation 3 Beta Test Schedule

PlayStation 3 testing will begin in phase 3 of the beta test.

Beta Test Schedule

The beta test will be divided into four phases. During phase 1, the game will only be available for a few hours on specific days, but availability will be increased in subsequent phases. A more detailed testing schedule will be posted on the Beta Tester Forum.

Beta Test Character Data

At the commencement of the beta test, players will need to create new characters for testing purposes. At the end of phase 3, this character data will be wiped. From phase 4 onward, players will be permitted to retain their character data and carry it over to the official release version. However, depending on the circumstances, character data may still need to be wiped, so please bear this in mind. We will notify players in advance should this become necessary.

Version 1.0 Character Data

Character data from FFXIV Version 1.0 will be transferred and implemented in phase 3 in order to test the porting process. After fixing bugs that occur, we will wipe imported character data. This character data will be transferred and officially implemented in phase 4 of the beta test. These multiple transfers will ensure that the character data is transferred securely and safely. Additional details will be made available in the near future.
* If character data is wiped after the official transfer of FFXIV Version 1.0 character data, it will be transferred again during phase 4.

Disclosure of Proprietary Information

As stated in the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Tester Agreement, testers are prohibited from publicizing any proprietary information related to the beta test on third-party sites. In the event that we confirm that infringement has occurred, your rights to be a tester will be revoked and your FINAL FANTASY XIV account will be suspended.
As we advance to subsequent phases of the beta test, the restrictions on the disclosure of proprietary information will be lifted. We will announce when beta test-related details can be publicized, so please take great care in their handling until they have been made public. For feedback and discussions between testers, please use the dedicated tester forum.
